The 2006 Toyota Women's Open Tennis Tournament will open in Ho Chi Minh City on May 13 with the participation of 90 tennis players from 18 countries and territories, the organising board announced at a press briefing on May 9.
The 2004 champion Suchanun Viratprasert from Thailand, who is also the world's 193rd player, is considered a number one seed of this year's tournament.
Vietnam will send its best players, including Huynh Mai Huynh and Tran Thi Kim Loi, who are automatically qualified to the official competition, scheduled for May 15-21.
The tournament is jointly held by the International Tennis Federation and the HCM City Tennis Federation.
