2006 Youth Karatedo Tournament opens in Khanh Hoa province
The 13th National Youth Karatedo Tournament kicked off in the central coastal province of Khanh Hoa with the participation of 308 martial artists from 33 teams across the country, the largest of its kind so far.

The tournament, which will last through to May 10, has attracted 112 female and 196 male martial artists, who are competing in two events: Kata (performance) and Kumite (combating) for men and women in three age groups ( 14-16, 16-18, and 18-21). There are seven weight categories from 48-70 kg for the Kumite event.

The tourney presents an opportunity for the National Sports Committee to review the development of Karatedo nationwide, and select the national team to participate in the Asian Youth Karatedo Championships, which will be held in Singapore in July.
