Conference of Chief Justices of Asia and the Pacific opens
Nearly 80 chief justices, judges, and specialists of courts from 29 countries and territories gathered at the 13th Conference of Chief Justices of Asia and the Pacific (CCJAP13) which opened in Ho Chi Minh City on November 9.

At the opening ceremony, Truong Hoa Binh, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People's Court of Vietnam, said that sharing information and experience will help regional countries gain a better understanding of judicial systems and develop their own ones. The conference is of great significance to the Vietnamese court sector because the country is accelerating judicial reform and judging is the backbone of reform work.

Participants in the four-day conference will discuss seven topics, including developing the judicial system in the region in the context of judicial reform, promoting the role of chief justices in the development of the judicial system, improving the high efficiency of judicial activities, judging skills, independence of courts, defining law titles and raising people’s awareness and judicial morals.

Vietnam will present two topics: court’s key role in judicial reform and judge’s handbook.

The conference coincides with the LAWASIA conference held by the Law Association for Asia and the Pacific.
