Deputy PM lauds Vietnam-China technology cooperation
Vietnam wants to increase cooperation in information technology with China to make IT a strong economic sector in the country, said Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan.

Mr Nhan expressed his hope while receiving a delegation of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology led by Deputy Minister Cao Jianlin who is on an official visit to Vietnam at the invitation of the Ministry of Since and Technology.

Mr Nhan congratulated China on its achievements in the economy, science and technology and praised the outcome of a working session held earlier between results between the two ministries.

During the session, the two ministries signed a protocol for cooperation in high technology, intellectual property, standards, personnel training and amendments to the 1992 cooperation protocol. The Chinese ministry pledged to support and share experience with Vietnam in building a nuclear power plant.

For his part, Cao Jianlin said China’s reform policy and Vietnam’s renewal policy have been carried out properly, helping ensure social security. He highlighted the two countries’ potential for cooperation in science and technology and affirmed the Chinese ministry’s willingness to cooperate with Vietnam in this sector.

The Chinese minister began a five-day visit to Vietnam on March 29.
