Inspection sector prioritises anti-corruption
The inspection sector will focus on dealing with complicated complaints and petitions, and combating corruption, especially notorious cases concerning personnel selection for the upcoming Party congresses at grassroots level.

Government chief inspector Tran Van Truyen made clear the sector’s primary goal in the lead up to the sector’s 65th anniversary in 2010, while launching a new exemplary role model movement at a ceremony in Hanoi on November 23.

He said the sector will accelerate administrative reform and complete a revised bill on inspection, a draft bill on complaints and another draft bill on petitions for submission to the National Assembly.

Another key task is to promote the on-going campaign of “Studying and Following the late President Ho Chi Minh’s moral examples,” and encourage its employees to take the lead in thrifty practice, waste prevention and anti-corruption efforts, said Mr Truyen.

The sector will continue to improve its management capacity and keep a close watch on the implementation of the national strategy for corruption prevention and control at grassroots level.

So far this year, the sector has completed more than 8,000 out of 10,000 inspections, detecting many wrong doings and weaknesses in State and economic management, which caused a total loss of VND20 trillion, 1,370ha of land and US$150,000 to the State. It has proposed taking back VND1.7 trillion, 1,157ha of land and US$150,000.

It has also proposed administrative fines on 541 collectives and 1,822 individuals and transferred 45 criminal cases involving 75 people to the procuracy agency for prosecution.
