Medical student wins Miss Vietnam Global 2009
The winner is Alex Thuy Tran, a 22-year-old medical student from Rice University, Houston, USA.

Born in Nha Trang, Alex settled in USA at the age of two with her parents and a younger brother.

Apart from the 2009 title, she was among the top 10 at the Miss Vietnam contest in America 2006 and another Miss Vietnam Global pageant in 2007.

Alex is only 1.58m tall but has a beautiful face and speaks fluent Vietnamese, which gave her an edge in the competition.

Miss Vietnam Global 2009 is also a very kind-hearted girl who has taken part in many charitable activities. She said that the title will provide her with with more opportunities to help others.

The Asian beauty is scheduled to go on a good-will trip to India in July and August as well as to star in a new DVD.

The two runners-up were Le My Linh from Atlanta and Huong Giang from Vietnam.
