NA Standing Committee opens its 28th session
The 28th session of the 12th National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee opened in Hanoi on February 9 with Nguyen Phu Trong in the chair.

The NA Standing Committee heard reports on adjustment of decree-law in 2010, a statement to list the Capital Law into the official agenda in 2010, and a statement on preparations for the 7th meeting of the 12th NA.

According to a report of the Law Committee presented by its chairman Nguyen Duc Thuan, in 2010 the 7th meeting the NA will discuss a draft Law on Public Investment, a draft Capital Law, and a resolution on amendments and supplements to some articles under a resolution on key national projects. Later at the 8th meeting in late 2010, the NA will discuss two draft laws and this resolution.

Members of the NA Standing Committee agreed to elevate the Capital Ordinance to a Capital Law. When the law is issued it will play an important role in th socio-economic development of the capital and the country in the process of industrialization and modernization. It will also create a legal framework to implement the capital’s zoning, investment, construction, management, and development plans.

The NA Office reported that the 7th meeting of the 12th NA will approve 11 draft laws and discuss 14 other draft laws within 35 days. The NA will strictly observe the implementation of legal regulations on the establishment of schools and the quality of tertiary education and listen to voters’ petitions and NA deputies’ questions and answers. The meeting will open on May 20 and close on July 2, 2010.
