Ngan Truoi Reservoir gets off the ground in Ha Tinh
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung on June 14 pressed a button to kick-start the construction of the Ngan Truoi Reservoir project in Huong Dai commune in the central province of Ha Tinh.

He asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and Ha Tinh province to take measures to ensure the safety and quality and to keep in on schedule.

He also requested Ha Tinh speed up land clearance and provide necessary assistance to more than 6,000 displaced people from over 1,000 households who were moved from the construction site so that they can stabilise their lives in the new resettlement areas.

The Ngan Truoi Reservoir is a key national project to supply water for production, public use and a hydro-electric power plant to be built in the future.

The project is being built on the Ngan Truoi River in Huong Dai commune in Vu Quang district. It is designed to contain 775 million cubic metres capable of supplying water for agricultural production, aquaculture, mining projects and industrial zones, while diverting floods and improving the ecological environment in the river basin.

Eight out of 12 districts and towns of Ha Tinh province will benefit from this project which is funded by the Irrigation Works Construction and Investment Management Board under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The nearly VND6,000 billion reservoir will take five years to build.
