During a pre-Tet visit on February 90, Mr Dung described the provincial achievements as significant, as Quang Binh generated high industrial and export value and its budget revenue exceeded the VND1,000 billion benchmark for the first time.
The PM particularly acknowledged local authorities’ efforts to reduce the rate of poor households by an additional 3.5 percent, increase its provincial competitiveness index gradually, and better solve pressing social issues.
However, he said the poverty rate remains high, at 15 percent, and the provincial Party Committee and administration should focus on improving the living conditions of local residents, especially the poor, social policy beneficiaries and ethnic people living in remote areas.
He asked them to make full use of the advantages available, including land, minerals and the labour force, to develop the forest-based economy, the processing industry and tourism services.
As the lunar New Year festival is approaching, Mr Dung asked relevant agencies to crack down on smuggling and trade fraud, keep a close watch on market prices of daily necessities, and ensure traffic safety during the nine-day holiday.
The PM visited and presented Tet gifts to heroic Vietnamese mothers and war veterans in the province.
