Peru imposes anti-dumping duties on Vietnamese shoes
The Peruvian National Institute for the Defense of Competition and Intellectual Property Rights (INDECOPI) has decided to impose anti-dumping duties on shoes with fabric-upper imported from Vietnam.

On behalf of five shoe manufacturers based in Lima, the Leather Shoe Industry and Related Components Corporation (CCCA) requested an anti-dumping probe into shoes imported from Vietnam. The decision will be announced officially in the next days.

Other kinds of shoes imported from China and Vietnam will be also taken into consideration. According to Peru’s newspaper, in 2006, the CCCA lodged a lawsuit against fabric shoes imported from China and Vietnam but Indecopi said that there was no foundation for the accusation.

In July 2008, Indecopi opened an investigation but failed to complete it. In March 2009, Indecopi then decided to impose temporary anti-dumping tariffs on these products but reversed the decision in June.
