Peruvian communists hail Vietnam’s achievements
A delegation from the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has attended the eighth congress of the Communist Party of Peru-Red Fatherland (PCdelP), which reiterated that socialism is the ideal of the party and Marxism-Leninism its ideological foundation.

The congress, held in the capital city of Lima from February 4-7, assessed the international and regional situation and approved the PCdelP’s new platform and modified statute.

It pointed out that the party’s immediate duties will be to build a united block of leftist and progressive forces in Peru, rally the masses for the building of a new republic, alter the constitution and win regional elections in 2010 and the general election in 2011 to set up a people’s government.

It called for merging the Communist Party of Peru-Red Fatherland (PCdelP) and the Peruvian Communist Party of Peru (PCP) into a unified one.

In a cordial atmosphere, the PCdelP’s politburo received the Vietnamese delegation, who was invited to speak about the renovation process and achievements in building socialism in the country.

The PCdelP leadership expressed their admiration and appreciation for the CPV’s role toward the international communist movement. They said the renovation (Doi Moi) process is testimony to the strong vitality of socialism and sets a good example for the PCdelP to follow. They confirmed their wish to further boost the ties of solidarity and cooperation between the two parties and two countries.
