President sends Tet greetings to former Party and State leaders
State President Nguyen Minh Triet on February 9 paid Tet visit to families of late Party General Secretary Le Duan, late Party General Secretary Nguyen Van Linh and late Prime Minister Vo Van Kiet.

He also visited the families of late State President Vo Chi Cong, former Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party’s Committee, Vo Tran Chi and several other senior veterans. He conveyed Tet greetings to these families and expressed his hope that they will uphold the revolutionary tradition of contributing to national construction and defence.

Earlier, President Triet laid a wreath at the Ho Chi Minh City martyrs’ cemetery.

*** The same day, Nguyen Van Chi, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, and chairman of the Party’s Central Inspection Committee visited Bac Giang province.

In 2009, despite ongoing economic difficulties, Bac Giang saw an economic growth rate of 6.9 percent and budget revenues of VND1,600 billion. It effectively implemented the Government’s stimulus measures and social welfare policies. The living conditions of local people have improved and Party and Government building have made significant progress.

Mr Chi praised Bac Giang’s achievements and urged provincial leaders to ensure traffic, food, and labour safety and a happy Tet for local people.
