Run for Children to be held on November 22
The Run for Children 2009, formerly known as the “Terry Fox Run for Cancer Research”, will take place around Hanoi’s Thien Quang Lake, starting at 7.45am on November 22.

The event is organised by the Canadian Embassy in Vietnam, the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organisation, the Vietnam-Canada Friendship Association and the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam.

Speaking at a press conference on November 17, Canadian ambassador, Deanna Horton, described the run as a special opportunity for Canadian people as well as the world community to join efforts with Vietnamese people in assisting poor children infected with cancer and heart disease.

All money raised from the event will be delivered to Hanoi Heart Hospital, Central Children’s Hospital and Heart Beat Vietnam Fund.

Since 2000, Terry Fox Run has attracted 37,000 people and raised over VND2.2 billion for cancer research in Vietnam. In 2008 alone, 7,000 people took part in the run and donated VND500 million.
