State President wishes for closer Vietnam-Greece ties
State President Nguyen Minh Triet welcomed Socrates Kokkalis and his football club Olympiakos to Vietnam, saying that their friendly match and the Vietnam national squad slated for May 14 will contribute to strengthening the Vietnam-Greece friendship.

Receiving the football tycoon, who is also the Chairman and CEO of Intracom Holdings and President of Intralot SA group of Greece in Hanoi on May 13, President Triet said he hopes that the Greek group will promote their investment in Vietnam, in particular cooperation projects between Intralot and Ho Chi Minh City Lottery Company in the spirit of the MoU signed during the State President’s visit to Greece in 2008.

He also suggested the two countries boost cultural, educational and sport ties.
According to Socrates, Intralot will invest US$50 million in a joint project with the HCM City Lottery Company under their cooperation agreement.

The group is also willing to support the Ministry of Finance in making regulations and laws relating to betting activities in sports.

Meanwhile, Intracom is seeking Vietnamese partners as it finds Vietnam a promising telecom and information technology market.
