Thai Parliament President concludes Vietnam visit
Thai Parliament President and Speaker of the House of Representatives Chai Chidchod and his delegation left Hanoi on July 23, concluding an official three-day visit to Vietnam at the invitation of National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong.
During his stay in Vietnam, the top Thai legislator held talks with Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong and paid a courtesy visit to Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

During the talks and meetings, both sides affirmed their wish to further strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation for the benefit of their two peoples and for peace, stability, and development in the region, especially within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The two sides also discussed specific measures to step up exchanges and cooperation between the two parliaments as well as accelerate bilateral coordination at regional and international inter-parliamentary forums, especially in the framework of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

They agreed to further cooperate in a bid to curb the impact of the world’s financial crisis and global economic downturn, to sharpen their competitive edge in export staples, and to ensure the mutual interests of the two countries.

Before leaving Vietnam, Thai Parliament President and Speaker of the House of Representatives Chai Chidchod and his entourage worked with authorities in the coal-mining province of Quang Ninh and visited Ha Long Bay.
