According to the National Hydro-meteorological Forecasting Centre, the strongest gusts of wind at the storm’s centre reached gale force 11 and 12, at a speed of between 103km and 117 km per hour.
Over the next 24 hours, typhoon Parma is forecast to move slowly south by southeast at a speed of 5 km per hour. At 4:00 on October 7, the storm’s centre will be located at latitude 18.5 degrees north and longitude 120.1 degrees east, hitting the north-western part of Luzon island in the Philippines. The strongest gusts of wind will be above category 11 and 12 near the storm’s centre. The storm is likely to affect an area within a 100-km radius from its eye and has gale force in excess of category 10.
Over the next 48-72 hours, the typhoon will move south by southwest at a speed of 3-5 km per hour. At 4:00 on October 9, the centre of the storm will reach latitude 17.1 degrees north and longitude 120.0 degrees east, about 840 km from the eastern part of the Hoang Sa archipelago, with winds reaching category 11 and 12.
Due to the impact of typhoon Parma, the north-eastern part of the East Sea will experience strong winds and rough seas.
