Vietnam, Demark target US$1billion in trade turnover
The Vietnamese Government will create incentives for Danish businesses to operate in Vietnam in the hope that two-way trade turnover will reach US$1 billion over the next few years.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung made this commitment at a “Vietnam-Denmark Business Forum” which opened in Hanoi on November 3.

The forum, which coincided with the Danish Royal Family’s visit to Vietnam, attracted more than 70 Danish businesses and a number of leading Vietnamese businesses.

Mr Hung stressed that Vietnam-Denmark co-operative relations have been developing rapidly, especially in trade, investment, education and training.

At the forum, the husband of Queen Margrethe II, Prince Henrik de Monpezat, praised Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements, especially in poverty reduction and international economic integration and expressed his admiration for the country’s quite high economic growth despite the global economic crisis. He said the Danish Government realises that Vietnam is playing an increasingly important role at international forums. Denmark wants to co-operate closely with emerging economies, including Vietnam.

Prince Henrik emphasised that Danish businesses are keen to co-operate with Vietnamese partners in infrastructure, airport, aviation, sea transport, tourism, energy, safe food processing, and environmental protection.

During the forum, there were several seminars on safe technology, the maritime industry, information and communications technology, airport services, and food processing technology.
