Vietnam, Germany signed athletic cooperation agreement
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Danh Thai and German Ambassador to Vietnam Rolf Schulze signed a cooperation agreement on the development of athletics in Hanoi on November 17.

Under the agreement, Germany will send a decathlete, Uwe Freimuth, to Vietnam to help develop athletics.

Freimuth, 48, was born in former East Germany and now works as a sports scientist, coach, lecturer and sports analyst.

His first tenure will be for two years. After one and a half years his role will appraised and the contract could then be extended to three or four years.

Freimuth will train coaches and search for new athletics talents. He will also promote athletics and organise annual plans for athletes.
