Vietnam, Japan help third countries with telecoms training
Vietnam and Japan will work together to implement the second phase of a telecommunications technical training project for third countries from 2009-2011.

An agreement to this effect was signed in Hanoi on September 23 by the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Subsequently, the project will continue to hold telecommunications courses for technicians from Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar, with a focus on operating and maintaining circuit switches and microwave transmission equipment as well as a general knowledge of IP (internet protocol) and NGN (Next Generation Network).

The participating countries will send their technicians on four-week courses offered by Vietnam’s Post and Telecommunications Institute of Technology over the next three years.

The project is sponsored by the Japanese government through JICA.
