Vietnam, Singapore to boost friendly relations
The Vietnamese state President Nguyen Minh Triet on November 17 met with Singapore’s Parliamentary chairman Apdula Tamugi and Senior Minister Jayakumar.  

During the meeting, the state President underlined Vietnam’s consistent policy and efforts to encourage a long-term cooperative relationship with Singapore. He added that Vietnam sees Singapore as a strategic partner in numerous fields.

Mr. Tamugi and Mr. Jayakuma congratulated President Triet on the fruitful results of bilateral cooperation over recent years.

Both parties praised the degree of joint working in politics, economy, trade, investment, education and training, tourism and culture.

Mr. Triet also proposed accelerating projects under the memorandum of understanding between the two governments on law and the judiciary. He expressed hope that Singapore will offer more scholarships for students to do a master’s or doctorate’s in judiciary.

Later the same day, President Triet visited the Fusionopolis Research and Development Complex, a science and technology powerhouse of international stature, where new products and technologies are developed.
