Vietnam actively integrates into the region
Vietnam has integrated well into the Asia-Pacific region, said Professor Patrice Cosaert at a recent talk co-organised by the France-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Vietnamese Association in France.

Professor Cosaert added that Asia-Pacific is a dynamic region, and great significance in terms of population and economic potential. Since Vietnam began its Doi Moi (Renewal) process and introduced open-door policies, the country’s economy has merged into the region in general and ASEAN in particular.

He confirmed that Vietnam is very keen on integrating into the region. Being a member of APEC, Vietnam has also been involved in establishing a common market throughout the bloc, which has reflected the political goodwill of Vietnamese leaders.

According to recent statistics, Vietnam’s largest trade partners are now in the Asia-Pacific region including the US, Japan, Australia and China. Vietnam imports goods from almost every country in the region including China, Singapore, Japan and the Republic of Korea, which also takes lead in pouring investment into Vietnam. Therefore, further integration into the region will create more opportunities and have an impact on the country’s future development.

The talk was just one of the many activities which are regularly held by the France-Vietnam Friendship Association, helping French people and overseas Vietnamese to learn more about Vietnam’s international integration process and its development.
