Vietnam falls in the “group of death” at Asian Champs
The national women’s football team will play against an array of strong teams in Group B in the final round of the Asian Women’s Football Championship in China from May 19-30 next year.

As scheduled, Vietnam, will meet Australia on May 20, China two days later, and then the Republic of Korea (RoK) on May 24.

The team reached the final round after beating Kyrgyzstan 10-1 and Hong Kong 7-0 in the qualifying round.

China is expected to secure a place in the semi-final, while the remainders will compete for the remaining place. It will struggle to qualify as Australia and the RoK have already inflicted defeats on Vietnam earlier this year.

Group A will see Thailand, defending champion the DPR of Korea, Japan and Myanmar compete for the other semi-final places.

The event’s champion and two runners-up will represent Asia at the FIFA Women’s World Cup, to be held in Germany from June 26 to July 17 next year.
