Vietnam prepares to host World Economic Forum 2010
The Prime Minister has agreed to establish a steering committee, headed by Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai, to prepare for organising the World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia in 2010 in Vietnam.

Together with the ASEAN Leaders’ Summit and the celebration of the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi, the WEF on East Asia is included in the major events of 2010 to help promote Vietnam’s image to the world.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) will coordinate with relevant agencies to submit a list of participants and main tasks of the steering committee to the PM, and to draft negotiations of a memorandum of understanding with the WEF.

The PM has also assigned the MOFA in coordination with the Government Office to encourage Vietnam’s economic groups and big corporations to assist in the progress of the forum.

The event is expected to set a development course for regional economies in the post-crisis period.

The annual WEF on East Asia is aimed at expanding economic relations among countries in the region, and between East Asia and the rest of the world.
