Vietnam reserves drugs to replace Tamiflu
Vietnam has reserved stocks of Relenza to replace Tamiflu if any cases prove to be resistant to Tamiflu, according to the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Dr Ly Ngoc Kinh, director of the Ministry of Health's Medical Treatment Department said that Vietnam has not yet found any cases which are resistant to Tamiflu. He added that like any kind of drug, Tamiflu has a certain rate of resistance but it is still effective for most patients.

The MoH on July 9 confirmed an additional three cases of A/H1N1 in the south of the country, bringing the total so far to 262.

About 221 out of 262 patients have been discharged from hospital, said Dr Nguyen Huy Nga, director of the Department of Preventive Health and the Environment under the MoH. He added that the remaining cases are in isolation and receiving medical treatment. However, all are said to be in a stable condition.
