Ten Vietnamese businesses have been selected to receive a Retail Asia-Pacific Top 500 Award to be presented in Seoul on October 15.
The golden prize for Vietnam was awarded to the Sai Gon Union of Trading Cooperatives (Sai Gon Coop Mart) which has 40 super markets in HCM City and southern provinces. Last year, it posted a revenue of more than VND6.16 trillion (US$346 million).
Silver went to the Sai Gon Jewellery Holding Company (SJC), with a revenue of VND4.5 trillion (US$252 million), and bronze to the Phu Nhuan Jewellery Joint Stock Company, with a revenue of more than VND3.9 trillion (US$219 million).
The annual awards, which are selected by Singapore ’s Retail Asia Magazine, have been held since 2004 and are based on surveys conducted by market research group Euromonitor International.
They honour 500 retailers in Australia, mainland China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Singapore, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam.
The magazine is among the top 500 on their numbers of retail outlets and sales, market share and ability to develop. The top companies in each country get gold silver and bronze awards.
