Vietnam smashes Malaysia to open the chance for semi-final
Vietnam’s U23 men’s football team needed to win the match against Malaysia on December 6 to secure a place in the semi-final.  

With the starting team full of strong players, Vietnam easily dominated the first haft and scored 3 goals.

In the 8th minute, Vietnam was given a penalty and striker Phan Thanh Binh overcame the opponent’s goalkeeper to score the opening goal.

After a fast counter-attack in the middle of the first half, Tien Thanh led a long range shot in the left hand side of the penalty area to make the score 2-0.

After only one minute, Malaysia gained appoint when Vietnam’s defender Hoang Quang headed the ball into Vietnam’s goalkeeper Tan Truong’s net.

Trong Hoang made it 3-1 for Vietnam with an excellent shot into the far corner of the net that the Malaysian goalkeeper had no chance of catching.

Malaysia tried hard to narrow the score in the second half  but their efforts were in vain.

In the women’s same event, Vietnam also defeated Malaysia with the 6-0 score of a tennis set .
