Vietnam spotlighted at Havana international fair
A ‘Vietnamese Day’ was held in the Cuban capital on November 4 as part of the 2009 Havana International Fair, drawing the participation of 30 Vietnamese companies and 600 other firms from 54 countries and territories.

On display at the Vietnam’s pavilion was a range of products, including light trucks, foodstuffs, garments, leather footwear, electronic and home appliances, construction materials, handicrafts and rattan and bamboo furniture.

The Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba, Vu Chi Cong, said that State President Nguyen Minh Triet’s recent visit to Cuba had marked a milestone in friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.

Vietnam has posted steady growth rates in recent years with its exports and the influx of investment constantly increasing. The country has also integrated deeper into the global and regional economies, he said.

The Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Ramon Ripoll, said that Vietnam is one of Cuba’s leading trade partners in Asia and its largest supplier of rice.
