Vietnam supports Nepal’s peace and development process
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on May 5 had a meeting to discuss the situation in Nepal. Representing the General Secretary of the United Nations, Karin Landgren, reported on positive achievements as well as political developments in the country over the past three months.

Addressing the meeting, Vietnam’s Permanent Deputy Representative to the UNSC, Ambassador Bui The Giang, acknowledged recent positive political developments in the peace process in Nepal, in particular, the drafting of a constitution and the operations of the Special Security Committee and the Technology Committee to assist armed forces’ activities.

The Ambassador called upon all parties concerned in Nepal to promote the spirit of solidarity, dialogue and reconciliation to resolve disputes for the nation’s common interests.

Ambassador Bui The Giang emphasised that the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN) in particular and the United Nations in general play an important role in providing technological support and coordinating international development aid at the request of Nepalese Government.

The Ambassador confirmed that Vietnam supports the commitments of the international community and the Nepalese Government and people in the process of peace and development.
