Vietnamese in South Africa and India celebrate Tet
The Vietnamese Embassy in South Africa met on February 8 with students, overseas Vietnamese and representatives of Vietnamese offices to celebrate the Tet holiday.

At the meeting, Ambassador Nguyen Manh Hung reviewed events and achievements by Vietnamese representative offices in South Africa last year. He noted that relations between the two countries has improved in the fields of economics, trade and culture, and highlighted the success of the first Vietnam Culture Week in South Africa.

Participants at the meeting were treated to traditional music and foods.

Earlier on February 7, the Vietnamese Embassy in India also held a meeting with Vietnamese students and international friends from Laos, Cambodia, Cuba and India to celebrate the Tet holiday and the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

Ambassador Vu Quang Diem highlighted the country’s socio-economic achievements under the leadership of the Party and pledged that the strategic partnership between Vietnam and India will continue to develop strongly. Despite global economic slowdown, trade turnover between India and Vietnam reached US$2.05 billion last year.
