Vinatex to build garment factory in poor district
The Vietnam Garment and Textile Group (Vinatex) will break the ground on a garment factory on Nov. 28 in Bac Giang province’s Son Dong district, where ethnic minority people account for 47 percent of the population.

The VND42 billion factory is designed to have an output of 3.5 million units earning VND52 billion per year and creating jobs for almost 1,000 local residents.

In addition to a 30,000 sq.m facility for production and management, Vinatex will build accommodation for workers covering 7,000 sq.m.

The factory is expected to be put into operation in next April, coinciding with the group’s 15th anniversary.

The factory’s construction is part Vinatex’s commitment to help the poor mountainous district of Son Dong.

In order help improve the living standards of local residents in Son Dong, Vinatex will help build compassionate houses for families of martyrs and wounded soldiers living in poverty, the elderly, and the disabled.

The group has also organised health check-ups for mountainous communes and will provide scholarships for students in the garment and textile industry.
