Workshop in Japan highlights investment opportunities in Vietnam
Around 100 Japanese researchers and businesspeople gathered in Tokyo on November 25 to attend a workshop on Vietnam’s current investment climate and its financial system.

The workshop was jointly organized by the Vietnamese Economic Research Institute of Japan, the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan, the Mirai Consulting Company and Vietnam’s Research Institute for Economics and Business Management.

Addressing the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Embassy envoy Nguyen Minh Ha reviewed the milestones in Vietnam-Japan relations, particularly in the fields of investment and official development assistance.

Despite recent changes to the Japanese administration, bilateral relations between Vietnam and Japan continue to develop robustly, Ha emphasised, adding that with an ever-improving investment climate, Vietnam has become an extremely attractive destination for foreign enterprises.

Japan’s Mirai Consulting Company CEO Mitsuo Kubo informed the participants of the latest developments in Vietnam’s market-based economy and gave a briefing on its banking and financial systems, as well as the regulations for equitizing state-owned companies.

The Director of the Vietnam Research Institute for Economics and Business Management, Nguyen Duy Gia, said that Vietnam is eager to continue improving its investment environment by speeding up policy reforms, upgrading the country’s infrastructure and investing more in human resources training. He also provided information on likely future trends in the Vietnamese banking and financial system and opportunities for Japanese investors.

During the event Japanese financial analysts and businesspeople showed a lot of interest in Vietnam’s stock market as well as its financial and monetary policies.
